About the Project

Energy optimization in schools is a particularly advantageous place to start for municipalities looking to lower electricity costs and carbon footprint. With new regulations phasing out older fluorescent tubes by the end of 2023, there are several benefits to implementing new LED lighting.

The VIA school in Silkeborg has undergone a major energy renovation. The renovation consisted of several different areas. Including new floors, new ceilings and furniture in several places. The lighting was replaced to the great benefit of lower energy consumption than before. The school has halved the cost of lighting alone and gained significantly better light quality and more light. All for the benefit of students and teachers.

The lighting system

Two main types of LED luminaires were used in the project. The linear surface-mounted luminaires of type NS60 were chosen for high energy savings with good light quality, while the round luminaires in the lounge and games area of type NS42 were chosen for a more playful expression. The round shapes also form a nice barrier between the traditional expression of general lighting in corridors and common areas to the areas where play and cozy stay is encouraged. The round NS42 luminaires are available in many different diameters and can be both surface-mounted and recessed into the ceiling. In addition, this type of luminaire is available with RGBW, which means that exciting rooms can be created with few resources. In total, a few hundred luminaires have been used in the project.

School lighting

With the higher demands for good lighting in schools, LED lighting can often create a good foundation for both high light quality and lux value. In addition, changing the color of the light from warm to cool can contribute to a higher learning ability in students. This has already been proven in 2011, where the first tests have shown a higher concentration of up to 19%. Lumega has years of experience in providing the perfect lighting for all types of schools. We have helped with trials across lighting solutions. We know what works best for the school's students and can put it together with respect for economy and functionality.
