About Construction

The trade union Dansk Metal has taken a new approach and in 2021 announced a major new construction project at Sydhavnen in Copenhagen with almost 60,000 square meters of residential and commercial space and a parking garage with 190 spaces. The investment comes in the wake of a desire to offer their members more benefits.

The area spans just over 60,000 sqm and is divided into 14,500 sqm of youth housing, 19,000 sqm of family housing, 11,500 sqm of commercial space, 11,000 sqm of parking garage, 1,800 sqm of daycare and 11,000 sqm of nursing homes.

Bringing these types of residents together is intentional. It creates a neighborhood that allows for diversity and unity. This means everything is basically within reach. Shopping, housing and, over time, a beautiful landscape plan that forms the basis for good vegetation.

The lighting system

Lumega has worked in close collaboration with Steen Jørgensen El A/S for 1.5 years on the project. Throughout the process, there have been several changes in line with optimization and changes in the construction project. The size of the project has meant that we have divided it into several stages. Thus, the deliveries are made in installments on agreed deadlines.

There are several different types of lighting. Line luminaires of type NS50 are used on the staircase landing, round recessed luminaires of type NS40 and NS42 are used in various places, such as in the common areas of the youth hostels and apartments. In the youth housing areas, there are spotlights on rails of type NS72. In addition, the linear NS55 luminaire is used in many common areas at basement level.

The outdoor areas are also provided by Lumega. Here, IP65 spots are used in the overhangs so that residents have a safe entrance. In addition, a custom-made bollard with a unique RAL color choice. Wall luminaires are installed on parts of the building to create a safe environment in the area. Furthermore, NS98 spots are used on masts and masts equipped with park luminaires in other parts of the area.

The building is still under construction and more pictures will be posted online later under this case story.

Lighting for residential construction

Over the past two years, Lumega has become one of the most used lighting suppliers in Denmark for large residential projects. With an optimized supply chain, we can handle even the largest construction projects. Whether Lumega is involved from the start or we come in after the project has been designed is not the most important factor, but for the architect and consulting engineers, there are some advantages to using Lumega from the start. Our expertise, quality level and low price level will in most cases end up with the products not being converted. This saves consultant hours. There is no need to consider alternatives because the electrical contractor can see the price level is reasonable from the start. As a consultant, a finished project will be delivered in 1-4 days.

As an electrical contractor, you can have an optimized bottom line and we can help with marking so that your electricians can easily find the products that need to be installed at the respective time. Time optimization and dialogue about the same is for Lumega an essential thing before delivering lighting products.
