Stenslund care center
Stenslund care center is newly built and has the latest in circadian lighting. This ensures that the light color changes from warm to cool throughout the day. This increases the well-being of residents and staff.

Construction
With a total of 84 beds on two floors, Stenslundcenteret welcomed a modern senior center at the end of 2020. The building is shaped like a large U-shape that opens to the south, creating a safe and protective courtyard. In the courtyard, there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor seating for all residents. The rest of the grounds are designed as a cozy, enclosed garden with paths and plants. The staff's working conditions have also been a priority, with a focus on good and considerate service areas. The total construction cost of the project was DKK 55 million and was carried out under a turnkey contract.
Lighting systems
Circadian lighting was a requirement right from the start. This meant that the control and communication between the lights required special focus. Lumega, in collaboration with Henning Mortensen, found the right lamps for this project - both in terms of function and design. We ended up with NS47, which is a very good surface-mounted LED downlight that, in addition to being energy efficient, also has the ability to minimize glare. In addition, Lumega has been responsible for the delivery of NS11, which ensures the right lighting at night. The chandeliers that adorn the entrance area were also supplied by Lumega. The outdoor lighting consisted of our bollard NS85 for path lighting and our NS98 spots mounted at the entrance. In addition, Lumega's lighting designers also supported with their expert knowledge and lighting concepts, which are ultimately a big part of the overall impression of this highly modern care center.
In combination with the high-tech LED chip, which switches between warm light (2700K) and cold light (6500K), perfect comfort was created. The lighting was programmed so that the electric light followed the circadian rhythm (daylight). This means that the light gets warmer as we approach the evening hours and cooler as we approach morning. This not only provides better well-being and support for the residents, but also for the staff who also benefit from this circadian lighting.
Circadian rhythm lighting control
Programming lighting systems with circadian lighting can be challenging. First, you need to consider the required circadian rhythm you want. Then the intensity, i.e. the amount of light - the brightness. Brightness, in combination with the varying color of the light, will generate the desired circadian lighting. This process requires the right driver, which in this case was a DALI V2 DT8 that can communicate with the controller.
Lumega's lighting designers have many years of experience in circadian lighting. Let us advise you on your next project where the focus should be on the right circadian lighting and not just a varying color temperature.
Circadian rhythm light
The concept of Circadian Lighting has been around for many years. In the beginning, fluorescent tubes were used to imitate and adjust the light according to the 24 hours of the day. Later, with the advent of LED lighting, this light source technology took over circadian lighting, as the properties of this type of light source could ensure a much more precise circadian rhythm than fluorescent lighting. Therefore, it wasn't long before the LED light source emerged as the preferred choice for the best circadian lighting. The rapid development of LED technology means that it is now possible to produce lighting that represents the entire Kelvin scale. This is why we have the opportunity to reconstruct circadian lighting via the Kelvin scale. Lumega delivered lighting that ranged between 1500K - 10,000K (kelvin) and with good color rendering. The lighting was tailored to the specific needs of the residents and each scenario was supported with carefully selected lighting.
Office lighting and general lighting for the employees at Tagdækkervej ranged between 2700K - 6500K, depending on the tasks and rooms involved. In general, choosing the right lighting requires careful consideration, both because the lighting system must be able to support the choice of light sources and meet the European lighting standard - most importantly, the lighting must support the activity of the room/area.
Lumega has in-depth knowledge and experience in circadian lighting, we understand the complexity of light and are therefore able to create lighting that both meets standards and follows and supports the daily rhythm.
