At Rotpunkt, Lumega worked closely with the interior designer. It was important that the layout was understood to achieve the best customer flow in the store. Then the lighting designer could start testing different solutions. We were now looking into light distribution, light quality and functionality.

About Rotpunkt
Rotpunkt Küchen GmbH is a family-owned company that produces high-quality kitchens. Not many people know that the company was established in 1930, which is probably because Rotpunkt has only recently started opening physical showrooms in Denmark. Since the first opening, the company has gone from strength to strength. Deliveries are made to both private customers and commercial contracts tied to, among other things, new construction.
Rotpunkt is best known for their extremely beautiful kitchens. Their slogan is also echoed with "The dreams are yours. Quality solutions are ours". This is a dream kitchen with materials that surpass many other kitchen companies. Their stores smell of quality from afar and it's the whole picture we're writing about in this case story. Because without the right lighting in a showroom, the products will not appear perfect.
The lighting system
When you approach the facade in Glostrup and see the Rotpunkt logo, you can see through the window that this is not a standard kitchen. The door opens and we step into a world of quality kitchens. The first thing we notice is a spacious showroom with high ceilings and great lighting. We're not just saying this because Lumega provided the lighting, but it's really clear how the focus is solely on the kitchens. The journey through the showroom is created by the interior design and lighting. You can read more about this story in the section below.

Then the lighting designer could start testing different solutions. We were now looking into light distribution, light quality and functionality.
Project planning of track and accessories was carried out and we ended up with our NS72 track spot with a high CRI value and a color temperature of 4000K. We paid attention to wood species and therefore chose an LED with high energy in the reddish light spectrum (SPD). This highlights the diversity of the wood species better.
The delivery of the lighting system also requires a good professional dialog with the electrical contractor. In this case, El Fyn A/S was the electrical contractor. They did a great job.
The lighting system that sells the product better
Lighting is, besides a good product, the most important thing in a store or showroom. If the right lighting is created, sales will increase significantly. Back in 2011, the first trials were conducted. Several different lighting setups were installed in different supermarkets with the same types of products. The shelves were the same and so was the placement, but what they changed in the experiment was the lighting. The purpose was to find out people's reaction and willingness to buy in the different light settings. The trial lasted 6 months and it was clear. Lighting has a significant impact on willingness to buy. There were several techniques that created a greater desire to buy and one of these techniques in particular is common in all new supermarkets and some clothing stores. Using the spectral effect distribution to emphasize the products. For example, this could be using LEDs with a slightly more red phosphor. This makes the meat look more red. The eye detects that the meat is red and concludes freshness. As a result, purchase demand increased more in supermarkets that were equipped with this technology, while other supermarkets installed fluorescent tubes without filters. Here, sales were significantly lower. Over 10 years later, we now have tools that can increase sales even more - this is the mindset stores need to have. Lighting shouldn't just be installed without thought. Thought and careful planning can pay for itself in four quarters - from there, it's all about profits.
