Restaurant MES and the project
The story behind the new lighting at restaurant MES, Vesterbro, started with a visit from Lumega's CEO Rune Søgaard Larsen. He sat and ate dinner, which was excellent. Consisting of 5 good dishes and a reasonable wine menu, the company was led through the tasting experiences. But the lighting lagged far behind the quality of the food. There were sockets hanging from the ceiling. At the end were LED bulbs that were very dazzling. This was room lighting and not lighting that benefits neither the guests nor the food. Rune got talking to the waiter and mentioned it in a respectful way. It turned out that several other guests had pointed it out to the restaurant's waiters. The timing was perfect because there was a real need here. A few days later, Rune met with the owner of Restaurant MES. He visited the Lumega showroom down the street in Vesterbro. Here they discussed lamp type, finishes and colors. They managed to find just the right lamp, and the entire design was then put into action.
The lighting system
Lumega designed the entire lighting system at Restaurant MES. The result speaks for itself and creates a fine, exclusive atmosphere. The goal was to illuminate the raw concrete walls with spotlights to create a diffuse light emission in the room. Next, the focus was on the tables. Here, the cylindrical VERA pendant was chosen. The pendant has downward light and only illuminates the tabletop. So there is no glare, but only light on the food. Both lamps are delivered in the same brass look. The detail that ensures the overall picture.
There is no light around the table. This is deliberate. The intimate experience by focusing on the people at the table and the food. The placement of the lamps and the ability to dim the lights in different scenarios has created the right lighting solution for the restaurant. The LED lighting also has other benefits. The long lifespan ensures the restaurant doesn't have to worry about changing light sources for years to come, even if they are on 12 hours a day. This in itself ensures that guests won't experience flickering lights or lights that are simply switched off. The restaurant team can focus solely on the food, service and overall customer experience.

Lighting design restaurants
Planning lighting for restaurants often comes down to the visuals, but most importantly meeting the perfect atmosphere. The atmosphere needs to interact with the interior, which in turn interacts with the visual identity of the restaurant. It is normal for Lumega to have a dialog with the marketing department of the restaurant. This is based on color choices and identity. With the right communication from the start, the details can be brought out. The creation of the perfect atmosphere is in close dialog with the restaurant's team. Lumega then takes care of putting together the information for the perfect lighting design. The lighting design is presented and here we can see a great benefit for the restaurant. Lumega has many years of technical knowledge within LED technology and can achieve a good lighting quality every time. We work in a team that only benefits to reach the goal. In addition, there is access to design lighting as well as technical lighting with spots and more. The latter is important as there are legal requirements for light levels and quality.
