Martial arts house

Many martial arts practitioners are looking forward to the completion of this building in 2022, and for good reason. With its 3,000m2 of modern facilities, the project is the first of its kind in Denmark. The City of Copenhagen wanted to combine training facilities for martial artists with an area for play and movement, especially for young children. The project is worth DKK 105 million and is supported by the A.P. Møller Mæersk Foundation with DKK 30 million.

Construction

The project consists of a total of 3,000m2 of indoor and 2,000m2 of outdoor space. The composition is thus a good gathering point for the local community, but in particular also for many others in other cities with an interest in the various martial arts. The City of Copenhagen is the developer and the A.P. Møller Mæersk Foundation is supporting the project with DKK 30 million. In total, the project amounts to DKK 105 million and will thus be on the map as the largest building in Denmark that will house many different martial arts.

With the two architectural firms Entasis A/S and Christensen & Co. Arkitekter A/S have succeeded in creating a building with great diversity for the users and still maintain a building with a beautiful architectural expression inspired by Nordic and Asian culture inside and out. The building is expected to be inaugurated at the end of 2022.

The lighting system

Lumega is the total lighting supplier for the project. The lighting system is something special. First of all, the latest LED technology was used for the lamps with 190 lm/W from the raw LED. This ensured that Lumega could deliver the absolute highest energy efficiency on the market. The project has not only resulted in standard lighting solutions. Lumega had to customize our NS47 lamp, which can be both surface mounted and suspended. The focus has been on extra low glare with the integration of Honeycomp filter in the front - in addition, there has been a focus on extra efficient cooling of the LEDs so that the energy efficiency could be as high as possible. Other luminaires such as NS50 line luminaire, NS13 wall washer and downlights for general lighting are included in the overall lighting delivery. All the lamps are delivered in RAL 9005 Gloss 20, so we create a uniform expression of the lamps, despite their very different functions in the lighting system. Overall, this is a state-of-the-art project that not only provides the framework for Denmark's largest martial arts house, but also paves the way for new thinking in the merging of Nordic and Asian interior cultures.

The martial arts house is extremely unique and it is rare for lighting to play such an important role in a sports project. It has been an exciting process for Lumega because there were many challenges to be solved. So despite 5 other lighting suppliers not being able to hit the target - Lumega succeeded in finding the right LEDs, the optimized cooling, optimized reflector technology with Honeycomp and not least drivers that could dim the light as desired. At Lumega, it is a great success to be awarded the task, which will definitely be on the map in Denmark.
