About Bella Quarter
Bellakvarter is a cozy new development located by Bella Center and Bella Sky on Amager. The building combines classic Copenhagen with modern sustainability, which is why there has been a strong focus on energy-saving lighting. Lumega was chosen as the supplier of LED lighting for some of the building's Stairways.
Sustainability and LED lighting go hand in hand, so it was only natural that the Stairways in the Bellakvarterietiet Stairways should have LED luminaires installed. However, there were a number of requirements that the luminaires had to meet.
Challenge
First and foremost, Bellakvarter wanted a solution that was as sustainable as possible. LED is already the most energy-efficient solution when it comes to lighting, so the challenge was to combine this with additional options that could make the lighting even greener.
In addition, there were high demands on the resilience of the luminaires, as they were to be installed in Stairways. As a stairwell is considered a relatively exposed location, it is therefore important to choose a robust luminaire.
Lighting solution
The solution was simple. Our OS0037 round LED bulkhead light was perfect for this project. The OS0037 is easy to install and is approved for shared access routes, making it ideal for Stairways. In addition, it is a highly robust luminaire that is also available with a sensor to dim the light.
OS0037 has the highest possible IK rating, IK10. This means that the luminaire is resistant to external impacts such as blows and kicks of up to 20 joules. In addition, OS0037 is available with a dimming sensor. In practical terms, this means that the light is dimmed when there is no activity. In the case of Bellakvarter, it was decided that the light should be dimmed to 50%, but this can be adjusted from project to project. Since there is far from 24 hours of activity in a stairwell, there is a lot of money to be saved by choosing a dimmable LED luminaire with a sensor. For Bellakvarter, the payback time is as low as one and a half years.
At Lumega, we have extensive experience with projects like Bellakvarter, and whether it's new construction or energy renovation, we are always ready to help.
