About Beckhoff A/S

Beckhoff develops open automation systems on the basis of PC-based control technology. The product range covers the main areas of industrial PCs, I/O and fieldbus components, drive technology, automation software, automation software, automation without a control panel and hardware for industrial image processing. Product lines are offered for all areas, which can function both as individual components, but also in combination with each other to form a fully coordinated control system.

When realizing the new headquarters for Beckhoff, intelligent lighting was included as an important part of the building automation. The company wanted different lighting scenarios that would not only contribute to different atmospheres, but also provide extraordinary energy savings.

The lighting system

Lumega was involved together with the electrical installation company Kjærgaard A/S. In close collaboration with Beckhoff, the lighting system was found. Lumega has delivered high-tech LED RGBW (4000K) lamps, which not only can switch between millions of different color shades, but also contribute to the strict energy labeling that the building achieves. The luminaires most commonly used in the project are the Lumega NS60, where the right combination of LEDs, mixer-reflector and front glass achieve smooth color control. Lumega also supplied downlights for the project as well as a few other lighting scenarios for decorative purposes.

Lumega and Beckhoff had a close dialog about the control principles and chose DALI V2 DT8. In terms of control, it turned out to be a good idea due to the great flexibility achieved with this type of control. In addition to DALI V2 DT8. The advantage of using V2 has been the 64 output addresses and 64 input addresses on the same bus. This provided significant flexibility in terms of programming options, e.g. with DALI sensors and pressure via the touch panel. In addition to controlling the lighting, the touch panel on the wall in each room can also control ventilation. It is also possible to retrieve information about the temperature in all rooms. Other interesting solutions in each room are a recognition process that allows the rooms to remember how much they are used. For example, if a room is not used much, the temperature will always be lower than the other rooms that are used every day. Overcontrolling everything is possible, but by automating everything via the control system, the building can boast high energy efficiency at the forefront.

In 2020, Lumega has shown that we can handle complex RGBW and RGBWA concepts. We see our competencies becoming an advantage in 2021, where several upcoming projects will be published. We are always ready to help with project material and lighting design for a project that requires tunable white, RGB, RGBW, RGBWA and control for the complete ergonomic experience. Now Beckhoff can welcome their customers into a dynamic lighting environment with a high focus on comfort and energy savings.
