For many years, Lumega has been a regular lighting supplier to the well-known company Sticks'n'Sushi, which started in Nansensgade, Copenhagen. Today, the company can be found in several places around the world and has a turnover of staggering millions. It's not without reason. Their understanding of atmosphere and dining experience is excellent.
About Axelborg
Axelborg is a large building complex in Copenhagen, centrally located opposite Tivoli Gardens. In 2016, Lumega partnered with the board of Axelborg to improve the lighting in the building's meeting rooms, which were undergoing a major renovation.
The challenge
Axelborg is a large, majestic building complex centrally located in Copenhagen. Among other things, the building complex is the headquarters of the Danish Agriculture and Food Council and the agricultural company DLG. The board of Axelborg had decided to do a complete renovation of the meeting rooms, and one of the things the board wanted to improve was the lighting. In this context, the board of Axelborg contacted Lumega, and our task was to solve the challenges that existed with the lighting in the meeting rooms at the time.
The board of Axelborg faced a number of challenges in relation to the lighting solution in the meeting rooms at the time. The board wanted to be able to present beautiful and inviting meeting rooms for holding various meetings, workshops, etc. However, this ambition was difficult to realize with the lighting at the time, as the halogen bulbs used gave the meeting rooms a yellowish and sleepy light. Furthermore, the use of halogen bulbs was an energy-intensive lighting solution, which meant that the cost and energy consumption for lighting the meeting rooms was unnecessarily high. In addition, the then halogen lighting solution also required regular maintenance, as the short lifespan of the bulbs meant they needed to be replaced frequently.
All in all, the board was not satisfied with the lighting solution in the meeting rooms at the time, as it was causing the association too much expense, poor lighting quality and too much maintenance. The board therefore wanted to install a new and efficient lighting solution that could eliminate these inconveniences that existed with the old lighting solution. The new solution would also improve the experience of those using the meeting rooms, and the focus was also on strengthening Axelborg's energy and environmentally friendly profile.
The board of Axelborg contacted Lumega to develop a new lighting solution that could meet these unique needs and wishes for lighting for the building complex's meeting rooms.
Lighting solution
With the new LED lighting solution from Lumega, all the disadvantages of using traditional lighting in the form of halogen bulbs were eliminated, and Axelborg can now and in the future enjoy all the benefits of LED lighting.
With Lumega's new LED lighting solution installed in the meeting rooms, the building association can achieve an energy saving of 81% compared to the old lighting solution, resulting in a saving of around DKK 10,000 on an annual basis. As the operating time is short and only 2500 hours per year, Axelborg can look forward to a short payback time of 2 years.
With the new LED solution, the meeting rooms have better and more light, as the light quality of LED is higher than traditional light sources and the light level in the meeting rooms has increased by 38% with the new LED light.
"I am very pleased with the beautiful look of the LED lights. The light source is pulled up into the lamp so that it almost blends in with the ceiling, which gives an incredibly beautiful effect. We have already received positive feedback after our last big board meeting was held. People could really feel that the atmosphere and lighting in the rooms had improved dramatically compared to last year's board meeting, where we still had the old and poor lighting in the meeting rooms," says Claus Mortensen, Operations Manager at Axelborg.
Furthermore, the maintenance of the new LED lighting is almost non-existent, as the new LED lighting has 30 times the lifespan of the previously used halogen bulbs. This ensures that the board of Axelborg does not have to worry about maintenance for many years to come. To ensure maximum flexibility, a dimmer has been installed so that the users of the meeting rooms can design the mood of the meeting room themselves.
"I have the clear impression that the customer (ed. the board of Axelborg) is very satisfied with the result of the project. Claus Mortensen, who is responsible for operations at Axelborg, told me that he was very surprised by how nice the light looks and that it could be dimmed so stably, even though there are so many lamps connected to one dimmer," says Jakob Kjøller, the electrician on the case from Fixit El Aps.
