Stadium lighting for Svangaskarð

Stadium lighting for Svangaskarð - A luminous collaboration in the Faroe Islands

In collaboration with local electrical installer in the Faroe Islands and DAV NORDIC, Lumega has delivered a complete stadium lighting system to Svangaskarð - the iconic football stadium in Toftir, Faroe Islands. The project marks an important step in the modernization of sports facilities in one of the most challenging climates in Northern Europe.

Robust solutions for harsh conditions

Four 24-meter high lattice masts from DAV NORDIC were installed for the project, which with their open structure and hot-dip galvanized surface ensure optimal stability and longevity - even in the harsh Faroese climate, characterized by strong winds and high humidity with salt content.

Lumega has supplied 52 NS91 floodlights - specially developed stadium lighting that is flicker-free and approved for TV broadcasting. Designed for extreme durability and performance, each luminaire is lacquered with a special anti-corrosion coating, making them ideal for installation in coastal areas with high salt content in the air.

Intelligent control and flexibility

The lighting system comes with integrated wireless control, so the lux level can easily be controlled via an app on a phone or tablet. This makes it easy for stadium staff to adjust the lighting for training, matches or events - and remote and automated control is also possible.

A stadium with historical significance

Svangaskarð has been home to the B68 Toftir club since 1980 and was previously home to the Faroese men's national team before Tórsvøllur was built. The stadium seats 6,000 spectators and is an important part of the local sports environment. With the new lighting, the stadium is now equipped for the future - both in terms of game experience and sustainable operations.

Result: Better light, greater flexibility and lower operating costs

With Lumega's NS91 and lattice masts from DAV NORDIC, players and spectators alike will enjoy improved lighting conditions that support high-level play - day and night. The project is a great example of how technically advanced and climate-friendly lighting can be implemented in even the most demanding environments.
