Jesper Buch's Entrepreneur Academy

Niels Brock in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, is home to the new Entrepreneurship Academy, which was launched with iconic businessman and angel investor, Jesper Buch. The project was ready and already from the start, great demands were set. Not only for the future students, but also for the room design and materials. Jesper Buch only wanted the best for the students. The project's lighting is a chapter in itself. We focus on the lighting system, where these classrooms had to set standards in relation to the best well-being for school students in Denmark.

About the Academy

Entrepreneurship has become popular in almost every corner of the world. Since the TV show Løvens Hule, where entrepreneurs pitch their business or idea to potential investors, entrepreneurship became even more popular in Denmark. This ensured an even greater growth in new businesses. After several years as an icon of Løvens Hule, Jesper Buch chose to hand over the chair to another investor. Shortly after, he launched the Entrepreneur Academy at Niels Brock. The academy is ready to shape the leaders of the future.

At Jesper Buch's Entrepreneurship Academy, the focus is on learning to see opportunities in every challenge and translate them into concrete action and value-creating entrepreneurship. Value creation can be economic, social or cultural, and to succeed, students must have an in-depth understanding of society, businesses and workplace dynamics.

School days at the Academy can be longer and more demanding than at traditional secondary schools. But in exchange, students get an intensive education in entrepreneurship and learning from the best in the industry. From navigating complex investment environments to turning creative project ideas into sustainable success, the challenges are many. The Academy provides an innovative breeding ground for new entrepreneurs or leaders in Denmark.

Old classrooms needed to be renewed

A meeting was held on a spring day in Copenhagen. Several people showed up. Niels Brock employees and director, interior design company BalieBalie, Lumega and Jesper Buch. The aim of the meeting was to inspect the older classrooms. Everyone was challenged by this inspection because the rooms were in a poor condition, but at the same time everyone could agree on a great potential. The building dates back to 1939 and thus provided the setting for some fantastic opportunities within the manor. At the same time, it also presented some challenges. How should the lighting be installed and what type of lighting would make sense in this type of space. The ambitions were high and planning in all sectors could be started shortly after the first meeting.

Despite the herringbone flooring and the beautiful architectural form, there was still a long way to go. The old classrooms appeared with LED panels. The chairs, tables and curtains were dated. In general, these rooms on the entire floor were under fire. An extensive renovation was due to take place.

After Renovation

Creating the best environment for the learning process is essential. In addition to teachers who can facilitate and support the entire process, room design, seating comfort and lighting come into play. In many schools, seating comfort and lighting are forgotten. Lighting has an extremely large impact on learning. With the right LED lighting, the path to the best learning is not far away. Lumega has included the students in the process from the beginning of the design. They have worked with shapes, colors and not least functionality. The advanced lighting solution not only reduces energy consumption, but also creates an inspiring learning environment that promotes creative thinking and entrepreneurship. With its lighting solution, Lumega has created an exclusive lighting system that increases the well-being and concentration of the students. With the latest technology, the light changes color from warm white in the morning to cool white during lunchtime. Then, before class ends, the light changes to a warmer shade again. This gives students extra cool light at a time when their bodies might otherwise be most exhausted after lunch.

Here is Rune Søgaard Larsen CEO from Lumega with Jesper Buch. The picture was taken at the launch of the entrepreneurial academy. A few days later, Jesper Buch recorded a video for Linkedin, highlighting Rune's support with the delivery of the entire lighting system without profit (probono). The video resulted in several words of gratitude on the way to Rune from hundreds of people who thought the donation to the future entrepreneurs was great.

Conclusion

By embracing the latest technology in the form of dynamic LED lighting, Jesper Buchs Entrepreneurship Academy has created not only a modern educational environment, but also a laboratory for innovation and growth. With revolutionary lighting as a key component of the academy's infrastructure, the Jesper Buch Entrepreneurship Academy is positioned to educate and inspire future generations of visionary entrepreneurs. With this case Lumega hopes that more schools and especially municipalities will see the benefits of modern dynamic LED lighting. Students need well-being, which can be achieved most easily by replacing lighting, fixtures and light paint.
