New battery-powered Casambi sensor

Lumega is now expanding its range of intelligent lighting solutions with a new battery-powered daylight and presence sensor for Casambi. The sensor has been developed with a focus on simple installation, high reliability, and minimal maintenance—and meets a growing need in both new construction and retrofit projects.

The new sensor communicates wirelessly via Casambi's Bluetooth-based mesh network and requires no cabling. This makes it particularly suitable for renovation projects, listed buildings, and areas where installation time and disruption must be kept to a minimum. The sensor handles presence, absence, and combined control scenarios and can be easily integrated into existing Casambi installations.

One of the major advantages is battery life. The sensor is powered by a standard CR123A battery and has an expected lifespan of up to 10 years. This means that the solution is virtually maintenance-free in practice. When the battery needs to be replaced, it can be purchased at a regular supermarket – no special orders or long delivery times required.

The sensor has integrated daylight measurement in the range 0–3000 lux, adjustable sensitivity, and flexible delay time. Setup and pairing are quick via magnetic activation, and OTA updates are supported directly in the Casambi system. This ensures a future-proof solution that can be updated and adapted over time.

Lumega has a production capacity of up to 1,500 units at a time and can deliver smaller quantities with short delivery times. The sensor is targeted at professional projects in offices, corridors, parking areas, schools, and smart lighting solutions where energy-efficient operation and simple installation are crucial.

"We see a significant need for wireless sensors that are stable, easy to install, and realistic to maintain over many years. With this solution, you get Casambi integration, long battery life, and a standard battery—it has been deliberately chosen to make the solution practical for everyday use," says Lumega.

Interested consultants, electricians, and builders are welcome to contact Lumega for further information, samples, or project sparring.
