Lighting control
Lighting control refers to lighting systems that can control and monitor various aspects of lighting in a home or workplace. Having optimal control over your lighting is important for any business. Whether you're trying to highlight specific products or create the perfect ambience for your customers or employees.
At Lumega, we specialize in providing expert advice on choosing the right lighting fixtures with the lighting control that best suits the building and employees. Depending on which lighting control is chosen, the energy savings will be remarkably high. This can be used not only for ESG metrics in green accounting, but also for complete monitoring of activity in all rooms and energy reports for monthly or quarterly periods.
Smart lighting control systems
One popular solution is smart lighting control systems that work with smartphone apps and other connected devices. The built-in features can be used to dim the lights, set schedules and optimize energy efficiency.
Lumega has partnerships with several reputable companies, depending on the desired functionality of the lighting system.
In addition to those mentioned, Lumega has a number of other partners, each with their own advantages. Whether it's highly intelligent lighting that can follow the circadian rhythm of sunlight, varying every day, or simple lighting control that alone ensures optimal comfort and the highest energy savings - Lumega will be able to guide you in the right direction.
Simple light control
Simple lighting controls are lighting fixtures equipped with sensor technologies whose function stands alone. This means that these control units either talk to each other or stand alone. These simple lighting control systems are cheaper than more complicated ones that connect to APPs or IoT technology.
LON Technology
LON is an open system that runs locally under ISO/IEC 14908. Several major office buildings run this system. The challenge with the system is that spare parts are becoming more difficult to source. This means many facility managers and technical managers are looking for alternatives. LON technology is used in buildings to control most devices. This also means ventilation often runs over this control system, as well as lighting is part of this control method.
The phasing out of LON technology is predicted to happen within the next few years. DALI is still the most obvious to switch to. However, switching to lighting fixtures equipped with a DALI driver will be a more costly process. There is currently no stable conversion for LON technology to DALI.
At Lumega, we believe LON technology should be replaced on an ongoing basis. It can either be a complete replacement to e.g. KNX or DALI, but the least costly will be MESH networks. All lighting will be able to run with wireless communication, after which data is fed directly to the wireless IoT device. Lumega will assist with a complete transition from LON technology to modern lighting control that can be connected to the existing LON system.
DALI technology
The technology is the most widespread and is not wireless. DALI technology is only referred to as smart lighting if modules are connected to the DALI driver. DALI drivers are usually built into the luminaire housing and work by addressing. In the past, 0-10V dimming was used. This control option opened the door to dimming the lighting in zones, but with separate electrical installation. The clever thing about DALI was the addressing option, so the electrical installation did not have to be divided and could be assembled individually for each device. The electrician or programmer can then address each individual luminaire and create different zones as needed.
DALI is available in several versions depending on the desired functions. One of the most important things is that the DALI driver used in the project is registered in the registry. Approved DALI drivers are simply recognized by its DALI logo. The logo means that the driver can talk to all other types of components that may have received the same approval. When programming, challenges are rarely seen, where cheap no-name drivers can present challenges. Lumega always uses the most recognized DALI drivers, all of which are approved and appear with the registered DALI logo.
Why Lumega
-
Lumega has established partnerships with the largest lighting control manufacturers in the world. The agreements are both OEM and direct purchase. This opens up fantastic opportunities.
-
At Lumega, we want to live up to our vision of being present and providing great service. Therefore, this puts demands on us as a lighting control supporter. We provide both lighting control design and on-site support to help your installers. This ensures a great final installation.
-
From 2024, Lumega has reopened our knowledge bank. It has been stagnant for three years, but we have found it highly relevant to open up our training section. If you are already interested in sending some of your installers on a course, please contact us for a closer dialog. The course catalog will be out later this year.
Case story
Lumega has been responsible for many lighting deliveries with different types of lighting control. Beckhoff is one of the more complicated projects we have done. Here, the focus had to be on RGBWW. That is, red, green, blue, warm white and cool white. This is one of the most complicated combinations in the field of smart lighting. Here, DALI V2 DT8 was used in combination with other advanced hardware and software.
