Lighting for Healthcare
At Lumega, we work closely with the healthcare sector in all branches of construction.
We have experience with lighting for emergency rooms, psychiatric lighting, operating room lighting, single room lighting, operating room lighting, nursing home lighting, dental clinics and pharmacies in general.
The lighting in these segments should be bright and of high quality so that patients and hard-working doctors and nurses have an optimal working environment.
The need for proper hospital lighting is great
A few years ago, the concept of 'healthy lighting' was unheard of. Traditional lighting such as incandescent bulbs and fluorescent tubes emitted the light they did, without anyone questioning the impact of lighting on work environments or general wellbeing. But with the advent of LED technology, several studies found evidence that the light from LED light sources had a significantly better light quality than traditional light sources, which could be directly linked to a higher sense of well-being among humans and animals exposed to this light for longer periods of time.
Higher productivity and better working conditions
When hospitalized, or as an employee in a hospital or nursing home, you are exposed to artificial lighting for long periods of time. If this lighting is of poor quality, there is an increased risk of developing headaches, fatigue and ultimately a feeling of being sick - all in a hospital where the opposite should happen. LED lighting is proven to have a positive effect on working environments and even work efficiency.
The many segments that Lumega has touched over many years have resulted in an extra positive feedback in the last 5 years. Since 2018, dynamic LED lighting, where color temperature, color shifts with a controlled spectral power distribution and, not least, light intensity have emerged due to price drops. This means more installations have been added with the benefit of more evidence of light's essential impact on humans.
Why is LED lighting ideal for care homes?
The staff at Danish nursing homes put a lot of effort into making residents feel at home, but the environment must also be optimal for this vision to be realized. Research shows that LEDs can improve the quality of life of the elderly and have a positive effect on the working environment. One of the options is to choose circadian lighting. This is a strategic lighting concept that is designed to regulate light according to the rhythm of the day, which has a positive impact on human health, insomnia, productivity and more. This means that residents will not be exposed to a monotonous, bright light all the time, but the color temperature and brightness will be adjusted throughout the day.
When lighting takes an unexpected turn
Circadian luminaires contain an LED plate programmed with a light cycle where the color temperature (K) simulates the natural color temperature of the sun over the course of a day. The color gradient runs from the warm color temperatures (1800K) simulating sunrise and flows to the light/blue (6500K) in the middle of the day and ends the evening by returning to the warm color temperatures (2000K) as sunset.
Selected lamps for the healthcare sector
At Lumega, we have gathered a wide range of luminaires to suit every space and need. See our full selection for your segment or download the dynamic lighting ideas catalog.

Over the past 5 years, we have helped a number of regions. Being prescribed or in special cases delivering as a contractor delivery depends on the project. Lumega is ready with a large backpack of knowledge and research studies with evidence of the impact of good lighting for the healthcare sector. Contact us for a preliminary talk about the possibilities.

We have supplied several dental clinics over the past 14 years and have just launched lighting that gives patients more peace of mind when visiting the chair. Contact us for the possibilities, they are just weeks away from becoming a reality.

This is a direct question that is difficult to answer without further background knowledge, but the short answer would be: The use of RGBWWA, i.e. red, green, blue, blue, white, warm white, yellowish is used for processing and thus works in a more intense range than dynamic white lighting, which only consists of changes in the white light color. Here it will typically be 2700K-6500K or lower levels with multiple channels. Please contact us for a 15-minute team or phone call to discuss the possibilities in an exciting area.

With 25 competent electricians across Denmark, Lumega can offer to take care of the complete renovation of the lighting system. This includes the entire project planning, energy calculations and any energy subsidies. From production to the last person in your staff fully understanding the use of the lighting is when Lumega is chosen as your partner for new lighting.
In conjunction with consultants, Lumega detailed design a complete circadian lighting system
Patients
- Overall, to create a visually safe lighting environment of the highest quality.
- Help treat patients' biological circadian rhythms for better sleep.
- Combine wavelengths, intensity and programming to create the ideal lighting system for the patient.
- The light will contribute to the hospital's fundamental purpose of helping sick people to be discharged faster.
The staff
- Support the natural human circadian rhythm and directly minimize physiological discomfort and hormonal imbalance when the body's natural circadian rhythm is forced out of natural sunlight. Here we work with evidence from previous projects on the best composition of the lighting system.
